Flute Academy June 12-25, 2017 with Robert Aitken and Doug Stewart
Spend your first week in daily master classes with University of Toronto’s Doug Stewart, Principal Flute of the Canadian Opera Company. You’ll also work with emerging composers creating new music for one to four flutes as part of LAMP’s 3rd annual Composition Academy, under the direction of Robert Aitken. Week two will focus on advanced studies in 20th and 21st century flute repertoire with the legendary Aitken, a regular faculty member at LAMP. This program is intended for post-graduate musicians age 32 and under. But undergrads are welcome to apply and auditing is available.

Composition Academy June 8 - 18, 2017
Robert Aitken is joined by American composer
Roger Reynolds in an intensive composition academy. Spend 10 days in a beautiful UNESCO World Heritage Site as you study contemporary composition and mentor with our outstanding international guest faculty including Dinuk Wijeratne and Jérôme Blais. Successful candidates will be asked to arrive with an original score for flute(s) and ensemble. The presented work may be scored for one to four flutes, one to four percussion players (TorQ Percussion Quartet will be in residence), string quartet and unprepared piano in any combination. The intensive, 10-day program will wrap up with a performance of your new work in LAMP’s 1895 concert hall June 18.
